We’re well in to this Italian thing now. Early starts, late finishes, chilling out in between, regular application of pizza, pasta, pasticceri, gelato, and coffee.

150 flavours…

It works as well in Rome as it did in the Cinque Terre.

I’m writing this a bit after the fact, I’ll go light on detail and heavy on pictures, but we all enjoyed Rome a lot more than Paris (which we also liked.) I think it’s mostly because of the food and general friendliness of people, it feels a lot less stressful.

Angus especially enjoyed our visit to the Colosseum, he found the models in the museum but really helpful to properly understand what it was all about. We went in the last slot of the day, which meant it was cooling down and there was plenty of shade even on the upper level… but having an hour and a half rather than an hour might have been better.

Grano was a great little caffe that we went back to, giant servings of yummy pizza and pasta for very good prices, and close to the forum

Angus loved it

We visited the Pantheon, the Castel St. Angelo, and had plenty of wandering around time too. Every afternoon was a few hours in the pool, and we really felt the benefit of that even though it meant staying 45mins on the bus out of the centre.

Jennie and I each had some good wandering around time alone too… sketching in Piazza Navona for me, and exploring St. Peter’s to the Trevi fountain for her.
