We’re getting towards the end of our holiday, and that means we’re chilling out a bit. Świnoujście is on the Polish Baltic coast, in the North West.
Getting there was entertaining… we travelled on the bargain 9-Euro-ticket, which had also covered our public transport in Berlin, and we could use for a whole month. It’s a really cool post-Covid/cost of living offer, and it means the trains are really well used at the moment. It was a bit annoying not to have a seat, but it was also cool that the train was so well used. Rather than having all these trains driving around empty, why not fill them?
We were in the bike carriage, and there were at least 15 in there… we had lots of juggling to get them in and out at the various stations, and it was very much a holiday train, so everyone was cheerful and good natured.
We had a flat really close to the beach, and a great balcony. Total chill out, no sightseeing, just beach, balcony, beers, for the first two days.
The beach is 10km long, and really sunny and nice sand, with lifeguards too. It did have loads of Moon jellyfish, which were hard to get over but they don’t sting. The boys somehow spent two hours in there without seeing any, but they were everywhere. I eventually got over the hump and swam a bit, but didn’t like it when my hands or feet touched them…

We still had a full day there after we checked out too, which we spent at the water park, not a bad first flumes pool for the boys!

We had a nice Italian dinner out, then wrapped up the evening with a walk and free little ferry across the harbour to the port. Pedestrians just walk on and off, which was handy, and it runs every 20 minutes between 04:20 and 00:00, and a bit less frequently in between.

We had a long wait at the port for our ferry. It didn’t leave until 01:00, and annoyingly they didn’t let foot passengers on until 00:30, so we were super tired.
The cabin was great though. We all crashed out and woke up at 06:30 in Sweden, ready for onward travel to a mystery location in Denmark. Who knows where that could be. Not the boys…
